Subject: RE: Gems 1-18-18 PA cross
    endorsement

    We were
wondering if anyone actually did it that way -- we were hoping not.
You are right it seems confusing to me too.

    The duplicate
ArtSeq is an interesting interface suggestion.  You could even imagine
some duplicated and some not.  We'll do that or something along those
    lines.

    As a point
of curiosity, is doing it this way actually a statute, or just "they way
they've always done it".  If its the former, please forward the section
    up to Vancouver.

      Theoretically the cross endorsement
works appropriately.  I noticed in VTS,
if you want the parties listed next to the candidate, the candidate would
be listed each time for a party affiliation as GEMS does.  Also in
VTS, if you want the candidate to appear only once on the ballot, no party
affiliation appears next to the candidate.  Which seems confusing,
what party would the candidate be affiliated with?

The state of PA expects the candidate to be
listed only once in the race with a dual party
      endorsement.

      Gems currently shows:
      John Doe (Dem)
      John Doe (Rep)

      The dual party option would
show:
      John Doe (Dem/Rep)

During straight party voting and dual party
option, whether Dem or Rep is voted John Doe would receive a
vote.  Is it possibly to give the endorsed candidate the same ARTSQ
identifier and then append the party name after the
candidate?

      Thanks,
Jane
