Due to problems with some
email clients (like mine) I am posting a rebuilt version of my last message.

After discussing this with Tari this AM,
I think we concluded that several requests may be getting mixed
together. I hope this clarifies.
1) I requested after the last California
Pres. Primary that we have an .abo file that does the following:
*
prints out standard morning zero print out that includes:
Precinct Ballots Cast
1001
0
1004
0
Race - President
Candidate 1 0
Candidate 2 0
Candidate 3 0 etc.
* prints out
only the Precinct and Ballots Cast information at the end of the evening
and DOES NOT
print out the Race Summary Totals.
I would call this the
"California Short" report. My initial request did not
consider muliple CARDS or ballots in a precinct, just the Precinct
Number and Ballots Cast totals.
2) Part of Tari's initial discussion was
seperate from the above and involves Card Numbers and/or Party Ballot
Cast totals also being printed. This is fine and after talking
with Tari, in a multiple ballot or Card situation in a precinct I see
the need for this. However, the ROM change required for this is
not something we will implement for November in California, nor will it
be relavant to this election in that we will not have parties, but I see
Tari's point for the future.
Also, Tari thought I was requesting a summary
totals report be printed, which I didn't want. So once Tari and I
spoke and we realized the confusion, we realized that I may not have
been clear on what was being asked for. Please seperate the two
issues so that California accounts that do not want to print the summary
totals report at the end of the day, can just get the ballots cast by
precinct, without having to change roms. Then, the Card No, Card
10001 vs. 1, Party code etc. can all be worked out in some other version
without getting mixed in with the original request.
I thought that I understood what you were requesting but now
I'm more confused. The above does not look like:

Guy, could we get an AccuBasic Report Option
that just printed out the label
and the ballots cast by precinct
only for the zero and election night
report. The California
tape was incredibly long in this last election and
when we combine
precincts into a polling place, we really only use the
ballots cast
information for each precinct. This would shorten up the
morning and evening procedures. We could always request longer
reports if
we need them. 1.94US BCST or something like
that. Please let me know.

And I don't understand what you mean by "summary by
precincts":

Guy, I interpret your message to say that if you want
"summary by precinct" totals only (Calif short version), and
you want party code, then you need 1.94y firmware. That's what I
hear Tari asking. And that's how I read your response. Is
that the case?
Here's where we're at. Don't worry about the 1.94y issue --
it's only for if and when you want to print party codes in the cards cast
results for partisan primary ballots. This was not part of your
original request and is probably the result of confusion with the 194
Georgia RCR which specifically requests full cards cast results with party
codes on all reports.
Currently, as per the original request, the 194 California .abo prints
full cards cast results but does NOT print votes cast results for the
default Election Zero Report and the default Election Results Report.
In other words, you get VERY SHORT default election reports. If
instead you want cards cast results added to the standard 194 US short
reports, then use the 194 Georgia .abo (but not the one in the 194y-usga.zip
file).
And if there is any more confusion, perhaps you better call me.
