RE: Removing the date on the AV Tapes
Any other thoughts on the Jresult side of this question?

The incorrect election date will not show up on election night reports, they
will be dated according the time and date in NT. I do not think that the
incorrect date shows up anywhere in Jresult.

After further discussions with Cobb - a secondary question has arisen
regarding if the wrong date election date that shows on the AV tape (they
copied an earlier election database to create the general) will also show up
in printable reports out of GEMS and more critically on Jresult as it goes
direct to the WEB?
Please advise.

Jawn,
Point well taken. My position does not in any way stem from a desire for
punitive action. I am concerned about the general desire we seem to have in
this company to coddle the customer and give in their every whim. Without
intending to denigrate the validity of your concerns regarding large
jurisdictions in Georgia in the slightest (I am certainly looking forward to
working/hanging out with you in Atlanta when we sell, say, Fulton County and
Dekalb County), it seems to me that to use the "next big sale" as a
justification for giving every new customer everything they insist upon
strongly, no matter how ill-advised, at little or no cost, means we will
forever be giving away the store. Please pardon the strident tone of my
original response, apparently my intention was misunderstood.

Tyler, your policy position may be just a touch short sighted considering
the bigger picture of the GA market. The largest jurisdictions in the
State are considering GES and the Accu Vote, and just happen to be next
door neighbors to COBB.
Your correct in that this has the potential to be an inconvenience for our
folks. If it becomes necessary, maybe a equitable amount would be more
advisable to charge our customer rather than an amount to punish them for
both their newness as a customer and GEMS user. I'm still trying to build
advocates for Global and I believe Cobb has the chance to be a good one.
I'll let you know how it works out after I've talked with them some more.
Your Pal,
John

We should do nothing here. The client should suffer. We should not be
spending valuable time this close to the election creating and installing a
new ABasic file because the customer's "forgetfulness" (leastways, not
without charging an obscene amount of money).

Beth Kish in Cobb county has forgotten to change the date in GEMS, and now
she has a date problem on her AV tapes. She is becoming very insistent that
we find a solution for her forgetfulness. She would be happy if we could
just remove the date from the tapes all together. Are we able to modify the
A-Basic file for her to remove the date stamp on the tape? What is the best
course of action. I have already told her we can't be changing anything this
late in the game, but as usual the client is getting persistent.
